   Proposal Description:
   The goal of the proposed research is to better understand why some individuals who experience traumatic brain injuries (TBI) do not develop Alzheimer's disease (AD), while others do. In other words, to determine protective factors, which can potentially be used to prevent or delay the onset of AD symptoms in individuals with TBI.  The research proposed will further the existing hypothesis that cognitive reserve can delay the onset of AD and apply this notion to the development of AD in individuals with TBI. This study aims to model cognitive reserve utilizing years of education, bilingualism, and ambidexterity.
